In co-operation with Anne Frank House, Bilgi University, Dutch Consulate and ARI Movement, Friedrich Naumann Foundation hosted a teacher-training seminar to develop the knowledge and competences of pre-service and in-service teachers with respect to issues relating to human rights, prejudice reduction and a better understanding of both historical and present days form of intolerance on 18-20 May 2012 in Istanbul.

During the first day the participants explored issues of inclusion and exclusion, stereotyping and assimilation. The examples used to highlight these processes were the Holocaust and the persecution of Roma in Turkey.  The second day was spent looking at human rights violations and who we should hold accountable for human rights violations. After the evaluation of the seminar and sharing education techniques for preventing discrimination, third day ended.

All participants were very motivated and worked hard throughout the entire workshop. The second seminar will take place the middle of September. During this second seminar, the participants will first present what activities they have implemented with their students.
