Liberal ideas, messages on freedom, democracy and tolerance are important and relevant in many parts of the world. At times it is not easy to spread these ideas and professional knowledge on how to communicate them is a fundamental necessity. This was the motivation for the Istanbul project office of the Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation for Freedom to conduct a moderation training in cooperation with young students from the Sabancı university and from the NGO "Youth for Habitat".
The training was held from 27th to 29th of March and offered fundamental moderation and facilitation skills, like moderating discussions, setup of working groups or delivering an "input", i.e. a brief presentation. Participants learnt about the most important moderation methods and instruments and had an opportunity to practice these newly learnt skills directly in the training.
Feedback by other participants and the trainer illustrated what was implemented already very well and where participants have opportunities to improve their performance. Also the preparation and design of seminars, workshops and trainings was part of the program. Participants developed in small working groups seminar concepts, close to their own needs and future applications.
Finally it was expressed by participants, that further trainings and deepening of skills would be a desirable continuation of the cooperation with the foundation. Also further trainings at other locations as well as the cooperation with the youth groups concerning seminars related to other issues was considered to be eligible.
