In collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Liberal Democratic Institute held its first meeting of “We are listening to you” series in Taksim Hill Hotel on July 7th. Members of entertainment business, board members of BEYDER and LDI members attended this workshop and emphasized their point of views.
European Liberal Forum realized this workshop in cooperation with Association for Liberal Thinking in Turkey, Friedrich Naumann Foundation and International Democratic Initiative. The program brought together academicians, think tank activists, bureaucrats, jurists, politicians and journalists from all around Turkey within ALT’s network. There was a qualified group of high number of attendance which enabled discussions after the presentations and valuable interaction among liberal opinion leaders.
Metropolitan GoveMetropolitan Governance International Conference, organized by Sabancı University Istanbul Policy Center, Kadıköy City Council and Friedrich Naumann Foundation Istanbul Office was held on 21-22 May, 2010 in Istanbul. Around of 100 participants attended this conference, including leading local and foreign academicians, representatives of public institutions, participants from non-governmental organizations and experts.
The speaker Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Borovali who is an academician in Istanbul Bilgi University talked about John Rawls’ political philosophy. The concept of redistribution of justice, why the concept is criticized so much by classical liberal theoreticians and how Rawls criticizes classical liberalism is explained by the speaker.
