On November 15, 2009 Chairman of Liberal Democrat Party, Cem Toker, was the guest speaker of the conference organized by Liberal Democracy Institute in the city of Gaziantep.

The conference started at 2:00 PM and ended at 6:30 PM and was attended by nearly 150 participants many of whom were students and small business owners. The once very active economy of the region has been hit hard following the economic crisis resulting in hşgh unemployment and bankruptcies.

Mr Toker delivered a speech on how liberal economic policies, especially small government and less taxes, will benefit the economy overall. Furtherore,he emphasized the importance of "quality of life" and "human development indeces" for attracting domestic and foreign investment capital to a region.

Mr. Toker's speech was followed by a nearly 3-hour long question and answer period duing which many aspects of liberal policies were covered.

Cem Toker gave interviews to a number of local newspapers and a radio station during his stay in Gaziantep.
